The A-Z of Fun Family Activities for the Summer Holidays

The A-Z of Fun Family Activities for the Summer Holidays

The school holidays are here and before long you will hear the sounds of “I’m bored” “come and play with me” “I haven’t got anything to do” (sound familiar?)
I recently heard of a really fun idea, and I wanted to share it with you, because it would be great for planning activities for the summer holidays and keeping your children busy.
My partner and I have decided to do the A-Z of dates, so each date has to start with a different letter. We thought this would make planning stuff to do so much more exciting and would stop us from always doing the same things.
As we were talking about it, I suddenly thought what a fun family thing this would be for the summer holidays. You can get your children involved in the planning and then you end up with 26 different activities to keep everyone busy over the school break.
They don’t need to be big days out or cost any money, you can get really creative with the ideas. I have created a list of suggestions to get your started, some are free things, some are things you can do at home, and some are trips out. But most importantly they are activities that you can do as a family together.

A – Adventure Playground

B – Bike ride

C – Craft afternoon

D – Dance party

E – Exercise (fun sports day type games)

F – making Fruit Kebabs (add melted chocolate sprinkles to make them a real treat!)

G – Go Karting

H – Hula Hoop competition

I – making Ice Lollies (you can make these from juice or yoghurt and add fruity pieces)

J – Jewellery making (if your child got a kit for their birthday now is the time to get it out, alternatively get some threads and make friendship bracelets, there are plenty of tutorials on YouTube)

K – Karaoke (this might be one to warn the neighbours about!!)

L – Lego Building

M – Movie Night (or afternoon, don’t forget the popcorn)

N – Nature Walk

O – Outdoor Camping in the garden (or outdoor cooking if you don’t fancy sleeping outside)

P – Picnic in the Park

Q – Quiz Night

R – Roller Skating

S – Scavenger Hunt

T – Trampoline Park

U - see the Underwater animals (Aquarium)

V – Play Volleyball

W – Water Fight

X - Xbox (ok I admit I got stuck on this one!)

Y – Yoga

Z – Zip Lining

I am sure that you and your kids will be able to come up with loads more but hopefully this list of suggestions will get your started. Our first date night is going to be Axe throwing! Maybe not one for the kids but I think we will have loads of fun, and it makes a change from going to the pub or getting a takeaway.

Have fun and comment what activity ideas you come up with to inspire everyone else during the holidays.
